Jewellery Care

How do I care for my plated jewellery?

Keep plated items away from chemical substances including hairspray, deodorants, soaps, perfumes and chlorines. If you use a polishing cloth, use it only very lightly. At JOUBI we recommend that you send your vermeil jewellery pieces to us for a professional service and re-plate every 12 months

How do I care for my Gold jewellery?

Gold does not tarnish, but discolouration does occur when it has been in contact with certain chemicals found in perspiration, cosmetics and beauty products and cleaning products etc. It is also advisable to remove any jewellery when swimming or cleaning. To store, wrap in acid free tissue paper. At JOUBI we recommend that you send your gold jewellery pieces to us for a professional service every 12 months.

How do I care for my silver jewellery?

To store silver, wrap in acid free tissue paper or anti-tarnish cloth and place in a zip-lock airtight to slow down the tarnishing process. Silver jewellery which is worn continually develops a lovely patina, worn or weathered look combined with natural oxidisation/tarnishing. We recommend avoiding cleaning processes if you like this look. At JOUBI we recommend that you send your silver jewellery pieces to us for a professional service every 12 months.

How do I care for my semi precious or precious stones?

Gemstones vary on the Mohs scale, which measures the hardness. Some gemstones will be more liable to chipping, scratching, and breaking. Please take this into consideration when wearing and storing your gemstone jewellery. Please avoid substances such as cosmetics, beauty products and cleaning substances when wearing jewellery. We recommend that you put jewellery on last, to protect it from such substances. We always advise that you have your jewellery serviced and cleaned professionally every 12 months to keep it in tip top condition. We would advise the removal of your jewellery before showering, swimming, or any activities that may harm your piece. Always separate your jewellery, and store according to specific instructions for your piece, as detailed in our leaflet that is provided with every purchase.
